Recovery Weekend is...

A weekend of prayer for all struggling with, and in recovery from addictive illnesses

Alcohol and  Drugs are not the only addictive sources.  Gambling, over-eating and relationships can become additive illnesses and rob people of self-esteem, of family, of housing, and of employment.  Addiction destroys the human spirit.  Families are often driven to despair from guilt and shame.  It is time for our Houses of Worship to reach out in unison, acknowledging these illnesses, stimulating education and providing love and support to all who are afflicted.

Do you know a person or a family that is struggling with addictions?

Almost everyone knows someone who struggles with an addictive illness -- be it alcoholism or drug addiction or whatever.  During worship, we so often pray for those struggling with cancer, heart conditions, or other "acceptable" medical conditions -- but the prayer requests for addictive illnesses are too often stifled by a sense of embarrassment.   Addictive illnesses effect us all.  Fear and shame are barriers to recovery and healing.   We want to replace fear and shame with compassion, respect and acceptance.

Our Mission is simple....

Whatever day your house of worship has services - Friday, Saturday or Sunday, won't you ask them to join us in prayer on Recovery Weekend?
